The Internet Explorer browser had been at the top, until a few years ago when they were taken over by Mozilla Firefox. The IE7, which finally is the answer to Firefox and come to think of it, it is not too bad. Some of the most important features of this version of Internet Explorer is its built-in tabbed browsing and an RSS reader. It has had a major change when it comes to the favorites and the history section, which are actually looking much better now. One of the other features that really makes IE7 comparable to Firefox is the anti phishing technology.
The new Internet Explorer features a built-in search box, similar to the one in Firefox. By default it (unsurprisingly) uses Microsoft’s LiveSearch and one of the things that stands out is its completely redesigned navigation bar. Finally the zoom facility at the bottom of the page allows the user to instantly zoom in and out of the current page.
Along with the positives, it also has a few negatives. IE 7 is limited to Windows XP SP2 users only and on every installation it requires a reboot. It also uses the old IE code which obviously does not comply with the current web standards. It carries on one of Microsoft worst legacies of carrying on with problems and not patching the flaws at a quick time, thereby reducing its popularity. With these features, however, it has been able to compete with Firefox, though with a lot of newer facilities, it can hope to be the market leaders again.
