Appropriate Use Of Keywords

Optimizing the selected keywords for your site can’t simply fetch you the desired result. Unless these keywords have properly being used in the content of your site, you won’t achieve the exact feedback of optimization. After you have chosen the appropriate keywords for your site your next task it to use these keywords in proper density to the content of your site. A general idea is that, more will be the keyword density; the easier will be the indexing of your site. Recommended keyword density for a page is assumed to be 3-7% for highly competitive keywords and 1-2% for lighter keywords. You can use keyword density checker to determine the keyword density of your site. There are no exact rules or principles for the use of keywords in to your site but you should try optimizing for a limited number of keywords so that you could achieve the best results. If you create a long list of keywords and start optimizing on all of them, you can’t achieve the adequate results. While optimizing large number of keywords you could hardly use few of them in the content of your web pages. This would consequently reduce the chances of getting indexed by the crawlers. Hence it’s better to start optimizing with 4-5 keywords at a time. It is also forbidden to stuff your content with greater keyword density as it may sound artificial and may lead your site to be banned from search engines.

The DoFollow Social Bookmarking Sites List

This is a list of DoFollow Social Bookmarking sites

The purpose of social bookmarking for SEO is to generate backlinks to your content pages that help them rank better in Google and other search engines. Your content of that page should be first optimised for the keywords you intend to rank for. There are usually three places where you can add information in social bookmarking sites:

  • The title
  • Tags
  • Description

Make sure your keyword is in all three of them. Note that the title becomes the anchor text that is used in the resulting link to your page. So, the title is arguably the most important element to get right.

Avoid Getting Banned by Search Engines

Techniques called black hat techniques are sources which can make a website damage its reputation. Black hat techniques are those used by some SEOs for making their websites rank well in search engines specifically without providing any useful information to the visitors.

Black hat techniques

Keyword Stuffing
This is one of the most commonly used techniques. It involves injecting large number of keywords all over the page. Keywords density should not be more than intended (usually 3%-5%) because it can lead to ban of website by search engines.

Hidden Texts
It is similar to keyword stuffing. Hidden texts are placed at different parts of the page like the bottom of a website in smaller fonts or placed out of the page/ visible scroll. They can also be placed in same color on the back of webpage’s background image. When websites use this tactic there is a chance of being banned, so such content should be avoided.

Cloaking

It is one of the best mechanisms followed by SEO providers for making a website popular. Main purpose of using this mechanism is to make website attain high rank in search engines.

Doorway Pages

They are pages of a website whose main purpose is to target a specific phrase or keyword, they are not important, some times when these pages are used there are chances of a websites removal.

Redirection

It’s a tool used with doorway pages. When a visitor lands on a doorway page, he is redirected to a page that actually contains legitimate content. Improper Redirections reduce websites attraction.

https and seo

Many websites especially e-commerce sites have parts of their site secure using SSL. This protocol allows information to be transferred over an encrypted connection, and is intended to stop packet sniffing devices grabbing your personal details. URLs of secured pages on a site start with the https protocol to indicate to the user that this part of the site is secure.

Some sites will only require the use of https on their contact us page, or in their checkout process to protect the customer’s personal details (bank details etc). On these pages only the protocol needs to be changed from http to https to secure the pages.

This technique however can result in search engines indexing both the secure and non secure version of your pages. If for example you used relative links in your secured pages, this could be interpreted as links to secure versions of your standard pages. This can lead to Google assuming you have duplicate pages, which can result in a drop in your listings due to duplicate content.

So how do you stop Google visiting these duplicate pages?

Go through your pages and replace all your URLs with exact links rather than relative links. You will however need to ensure you link to the appropriate pages with the correct protocol, whether the page is http or https.
