Songbird browser review

There are many web browsers that have some special features for some advance browsing. Such is the Songbird. Besides being a web browser, it is also a free software media player which runs on Mozilla’s XULRunner platform, thus competent of running on Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, Solaris and Linux. On the Windows and Macintosh platforms, Songbird makes use of the VideoLAN Client for media playback. For Linux & Solaris, Songbird utilizes the GStreamer media framework instead of VideoLAN. The Qtrax client is based on Songbird. The software has ability to play multiple audio formats, such as MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and Windows Media Audio. It can also play Apple FairPlay-encoded audio on Windows and Mac platforms via hooks into QuickTime and Windows Media DRM audio on Windows platforms. It has a skinnable interface, via feathers. The media files stored on pages viewed in the browser show up as playable files in Songbird. It has Built-in RSS subscription and MP3 file download and can subscribe to MP3 blogs as playlists.. It has user-created bookmarks and is able to build custom mixes and can scan the user’s computer for all audio files and add them to a local library. It has a configurable and collapsible graphical user interface similar to iTunes, and miniplayer mode. Other features consist of keyboard shortcuts & media keyboard support, automatic updates, eMusic integration using the eMusic Integration plugin, Insound.com and HypeMachine integration, Microsoft MTP compatible device support, can edit meta-data tags and save back to file.
